Method
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet and cut it into thin strips, about 1/4-inch wide.
- Wrap each Truly Irish Premium Sausage in the thin strips of puff pastry, leaving a small gap at the top for the face. Leave about 1 inch at the bottom un-wrapped to form the “bandages.” Make sure to crisscross the pastry strips randomly to give it a mummy-like appearance.
- Place the wrapped sausages onto the prepared baking sheet. Brush the pastry with beaten egg to give it a golden brown finish when baked.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the sausages are cooked through. Make sure to check the cooking time for the specific sausages you’re using.
- While the mummies are baking, prepare the eyes. Slice the black olives or capers into small rounds to create “pupils” for the mummy’s eyes. You can use mustard or ketchup as the “whites” of the eyes.
- Once the mummies are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly.
- Carefully add the olive or caper eyes onto the small gap left for the face of each mummy. Use a little ketchup or mustard to secure them in place.
- Serve your spooky sausage mummies on a platter with ketchup or BBQ sauce for dipping. Enjoy your Halloween treat!
These Creepy Sausage Mummies are sure to be a hit at your Halloween family gathering. They’re easy to make and fun to eat, making them a perfect addition to your Halloween party or dinner. Enjoy!
